After ending a successful 2016 with a sold-out headline show to 15,000 people in his hometown of Dublin, Gavin James is ready to kick start 2017 with the launch of his new single out today, entitled 'I Don’t Know Why.'
'I Don’t Know Why' is taken from his debut album ‘Bitter Pill’. The Danny Avila remix follows on from Gavin's previous single and breakout hit ‘Nervous’ that has, to date, achieved over 90 million streams collectively on Spotify, hit No.1 in Holland, the Top 10 in France, Norway and Ireland, as well as going multi-platinum in several international markets.
The new single, Gavin explains, came to be in a rather interesting way. “I was working all day in the studio on some songs but nothing was coming out. So, I met up with a friend and went out and got quite drunk, then came back home at 4 in the morning and started working on an idea. I woke up later that day with no recollection of recording at all and the song 'I Don’t Know Why' was all there," he says.
'I Don’t Know Why' will be supported by a sold-out headline tour in Ireland (February), UK (April), as well as dates in Europe (Spring) & the US (May/June), before hitting festival season in the summer.
With his live shows winning rave reviews all around the world, it is no surprise to see he has already picked up fans in the shape of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes, Harry Styles, Niall Horan. Maybe it won’t be long before Gavin James is filling more arena’s around the world like his musical peers.
When Gavin James appeared on the cover of Hot Press last November, the 23-year-old singer- songwriter hadjust dropped his debut album, Bitter Pill, and was coming to the tail end of what, by any standards, had been a truly remarkable year.
