My Country II
My Country II has enough about it to make it more than just a snapshot – something reinforced by his cover of Pete Seeger’s 1970 protest anthem ‘The Torn Flag’.
Subtitled ‘Music to beat Bush by’, by the time you read this Dan Bern’s pre-election purpose will have been resigned to history. Fortunately, this particular underground US songwriter has more than one trick up his sleeve and My Country II has enough about it to make it more than just a snapshot – something reinforced by his cover of Pete Seeger’s 1970 protest anthem ‘The Torn Flag’. Country music with a sense of righteousness and a sense of humour.
