Living Proof

After the runaway success of her last album, and its smash hit title track, the 55-year-old doyen of pop divas returns with a virtual carbon copy of Believe.

The first single, ‘The Music’s No Good Without You’, a catchy, hypnotic dance tune already zooming up the top ten, was produced by Brian Rawlings and Mark Taylor, the team responsible for ‘Believe’.

Utilising the same spacey voice effect it’s almost a ‘Believe’ Part Two proving that nothing succeeds like repetition. (Indeed, according to her web-site, the working title for Living Proof was Son Of Believe!)

Much of the rest of Living Proof is similar in style and substance with minor variations and only Cher’s powerfully distinctive vocals distinguishing it from most run of the mill dance pop.

The result of all this water treading is that we can expect to see Cher battling it out for chart placings with Kylie over the coming months. Not bad going for someone who almost forty years ago started out singing backup vocals on Phil Spector records.
