A Bookish Girl
Cork natives’ fourth album is their best yet.
A Bookish Girl is the fourth album from so-called baroque rock act Bennys Head and it’s another strong addition to the canon of the Cork natives that’s full of arresting melodies and ‘80s misfit pop sensibilities. Tracks like ‘UPS’ recall the heady days of mid-period Banshees, while ‘Shingle’ features a chorus as good as you’ll hear all year and the boy/girl vocal trade-offs are especially infectious. Lovingly-produced (and packaged) Bennys Head’s latest effort is up there with their best and helps cement their status as one of the South’s more interesting outfits.
