Monroe's are sharing the love across Galway city this summer, with gigs from the likes of Damien Dempsey, Hothouse Flowers, and Killer Joes Jazz Club lined up in the coming weeks.
On June 8, the incredible Damien Dempsey - who talks to Olaf Tyaransen in the latest issue of Hot Press - will take to the Black Box in Galway in support of the release of his new album Soulsun. Helping him out on the night will be fellow folk singer Declan McLoughlin, who hails from Derry. Declan has had an incredible career to date, including extensive touring across North America, Europe and Australia with artists such as The Frames, Christy Moore and Gary Og. He'll be fitting company for the Irish lion, of that we have no doubt.
Following that, June 18 will bring the Killer Joes Jazz Club - with resident band The Jazz Mongrels - back to Monroe's. The Jazz Mongrels began their monthly gig last year in Monroes and now continue their very successful Jazz night into the summer months.
Finally, Hothouse Flowers will step onto the stage to deliver their much-acclaimed live performance on July 21. Recently given a promotional kick up the arse courtesy of their song 'I Can See Clearly Now' appearing on Jeremy Clarkson's The Grand Tour, the band are currently on flying form. We're excited to see what they can deliver.
