Head of the station Peter McPartlin has spoken out for the first time about his surprise at D'arcy's decision to leave Today FM at the start of 2015.
Admitting that he wouldn't give D'arcy his old job back, McParlin believes that it is "now time to move on" and is confident in Anton Savage's ability to maintain the popularity of the station's morning slot.
With D'arcy due to take over from Brendan O' Connor's Saturday Night Show slot this Autumn, McPartlin is aware that the possibility of television projects with RTE is what attracted D'arcy the most to move to the broadcaster.
"Ray is a really good broadcaster and we were sorry to see him go but it was clear that he wanted to do something different and television was a big part of that", admits McPartlin
