It aims to commission and tour the work of three artists with disabilities in counties Cork, Galway and Mayo.
Ignite is a new platform giving professional artists with disabilities the opportunity to get their work supported and out there. Taking applications until September 26, three commissions – one each from Cork, Galway and Mayo – are up for grabs, each up to a maximum value of €60,000. In early '14, the works will be presented locally and the initiative concludes next spring with a more extensive tour for one of the winners.
Ignite's admirable objectives are to support:
– National and international collaboration between artists with disabilities
– The making of new ambitious work by artists with disabilities
– The presentation and marketing of commissioned work at local venues and festivals
– Access to a more diverse range of work for more diverse local audiences
