Paramount debuts the initial trailer for Gladiator 2, Ridley Scott's sequel to his Best Picture-winning film from 2000
The long-awaited trailer for Gladiator 2 has been revealed, offering a glimpse into Ridley Scott's sequel to the acclaimed 2000 Best Picture-winning film. Directed once again by Scott and scripted by David Scarpa the film is scheduled to be released internationally by Universal Pictures on November 22, 2024.
Starring Paul Mescal as an adult Lucius, who takes on the lead role previously portrayed by Spencer Treat Clark, the cast of Gladiator 2 also includes Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn as Caracalla, Fred Hechinger as Geta, with Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprising their roles from the original film.
At CinemaCon 2024, Paramount unveiled the first trailer for Gladiator 2, offering a preview of what's to come. The footage opens with Washington's character reflecting on past events, declaring, "I remember that day. I never forgot it; that a slave could take revenge against an emperor; that a slave could get justice in the arena."

Meanwhile, Pascal's character emerges as a formidable figure, possibly a general or commander, leading the Roman forces to victory. The sequel builds tension as Lucius and Pascal's characters appear destined for a showdown in the Colosseum.
In addition to action-packed sequences, the trailer calls back to its predecessor, with nods to iconic moments such as Lucilla passing on Maximus's ring to Lucius. The trailer ends with Lucius echoing Maximus's words, "What we do in life, echoes in eternity."
