The Late Late Show airs every Friday on RTÉ One – and tomorrow night's show promises to be a good one, with the debut of new rock band Soda Blonde among the likely highlights...
Ryan Tubridy will be joined on this week's Late Late Show by a stellar lineup, including legendary musician John Sheahan, champion jockey Pat Smullen, three Irish crime fiction writers – see below for more! – Irish goalkeeper Darren Randolph and Darren's mother, Anne Randolph. There will also be music from Soda Blonde, a new band which contains four of the five members of Little Green Cars, who recently called it a day.
Music legend John Sheahan has over half a century of performing experience under his belt and has become one of the island's most recognisable and loved folk musicians. Celebrating his 80th birthday, Sheahan will be joined on the Late Late Show by Declan O'Rourke, Damien Dempsey, Ralph McTell, Phelim Drew and Steve Wickham, for some ceol agus craic.
In March of 2018, nine-time Irish champion jockey Pat Smullen was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Pat will discuss how he reached the decision to retire from his profession – and what the future might hold for him.
Crime fiction authors Liz Nugent, Jo Spain and Patricia Gibney will join Ryan Tubridy to talk about how they got into writing, the secret to their success to date, and why we're all – apparently! – so obsessed with crime.
After years of supporting her son's dreams of being a goalkeeper, Anne Randolph is stepping into the spotlight to pursue a singing career. In a Late Late Show scoop, the mother and son pair will discuss this move – and we'll also find out how Darren's preparations for the EURO 2020 qualifiers are coming along.
It will also be revealed whether budding restorers taking part in this year’s Late Late Show Antiques Challenge were successful in their efforts to restore and revive the pieces they worked on.
