If you're interested in music, you have to be there.
Welcome to Music Ireland ‘06 – a weekend-long feast of live music, exhibitions, workshops, seminars and much, much more! Whether you play, work in or just listen to music, there’s something at the RDS to thrill and delight.
As you roam around you can test a plethora of instruments, musical equipment and computer technology, with a host of coaching sessions to choose from and a hot team of experts to give you advice.
With your Access All Areas ticket, you’ll be able to check out such high-flying Irish acts as Director, The Blizzards, Boss Volenti, Royseven, Tara Blaise, Dave Couse & The Impossible, Shaz Oye and The Immediate among others as they perform on the Live Stage.
There are Rock Clinics where selected new bands can pick the brains of some of the most informed players in the industry, and workshops for drummers, guitarists, dance DJs and would-be electronic wizards.
Hot Press is mounting an exhibition of its covers from down through the years, which includes classic images of U2, Rory Gallagher, Bob Dylan, Glen Hansard, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Sinéad O’Connor, Kevin Shields and a naked Jerry Fish!
The nifty artwork doesn’t stop there, with Neosupervital, Roesy, The Thrills, The Blizzards, Julie Feeney, The Immediate and Brian Palm from The Mary Stokes Band among those painting a door for charity.
On the out-and-out fun side you won’t want to miss the two-time World Air Guitar Champion Zac Monro revealing some of the secrets of his trade. You might even leave the RDS with a real guitar, as thousands of euros worth of equipment and rock memorabilia is given away in free to enter competitions.
So come on and feel the noise at Music Ireland ’06 and get a taste of how music in Ireland and around the globe will shape up over the coming decade.
