Bobby Sands 66 Days enjoys record opening
The new film smashes previous records for box-office opening by an Irish-made documentary
Bobby Sands 66 Days has achieved the highest opening weekend ever at the Irish box office for an Irish made documentary.
The film, which opened this week to considerable acclaim, is now the second highest (non-concert) documentary opening of all-time after Fahrenheit 911.
Brendan J. Byrne’s critically acclaimed and controversial documentary surpassed The Queen of Ireland, bringing in some €50,933, with some sites still to report.
Our own Roe McDermott described it as "inventively structured and ever-engaging", so it's not without reason either!
The film continues to screen in cinemas nationwide.
