U2 join War Child's Heroes project

U2, The Clash and Elbow have joined War Child's Heroes project to raise money for children living in the world's most dangerous war zones.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 17 Dec 2008

The project sees music legends such as Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan choose younger artists to cover one of their songs.

Originally due to be released on November 22, the project was delayed when the charity were inundated with requests from other bands -including U2- to take part. It will now be released on February 16.

The full tracklisting for Heroes will be announced in January, but artists already confirmed to be involved include Hot Chip, Scissor Sisters, Beck and The Kooks, Duffy and Rufus Wainwright.

McCartney, Dylan, Brian Wilson, The Kinks and Joy Division are among the legends to have their songs covered.

All profits from the album go to the Warchild.org.uk charity.
