Sky announces briefing event for scholarship that awards €38k to emerging Irish artist.
Sky today announced the date and location of a Dublin briefing event pertaining to their 2015 Sky Academy Arts Scholarships. On Tuesday, January 27 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Liquor Rooms at 7 Wellington Quay, Dublin 2, Sky representatives will guide Irish candidates through the application process for the coveted scholarship.
The scholarship awards €38k to an Irish artist in the field of performing arts, dance, music, visual arts, creative producing or creative writing. The funds will be used to support an artist, aged 18-30, in focusing exclusively on their artistic practice.
Applications are currently open and will close on March 5, with winners announced in June.
Applications are reviewed by industry professionals, Sky, and arts charity IdeasTap as well as Ambassador for the Irish scholarship Kris Nelson, Director of the Tiger Dublin Fringe. Nelson will be present at the briefing event.

· Sky will award four scholarships to UK artists and one Scholarship to an Irish artist. There will be a separate Irish shortlist who will be interviewed in Ireland by the Irish scholarships ambassador, Sky and IdeasTap representatives.
· Artists apply by signing up to IdeasTap – it’s free (www.ideastap.com). Applications close on 5th March 2015.
· This year artists are invited to apply by submitting either a written or filmed application, allowing applicants to choose the format they feel most comfortable with.
· Applications will be assessed by industry professionals, Sky and IdeasTap representatives
· 4 successful UK applicants and 1 successful Irish applicant are announced in June 2015.
