Bowie & The Darkness Confirmed for 'Oxegen'
As exclusively predicted by hotpress.com as early as November of 2003, David Bowie and The Darkness have been confirmed as headliners for this year's Witnness-style festival.
As also predicted, Guinness have departed as sponsors, with the festival being renamed Oxegen. While the link may not be immediately apparent, hotpress.com understands that O2 are the new sponsors of the event and that the Oxegen name has been chosen to align the festival with the O2 brand theme.
The event will take place at Punchestown – where last year's Witnness was held – on July 10 and 11, with tickets going on sale on Friday March 5th. Tickets are € 59.50 for each day, with the weekend ticket pitched at € 110. The weekend plus camping will cost € 130.
More acts will of course be added to the bill but it appears that any hope that The Pixies might make an appearance have been dashed by the campaign for their support slot with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers which proclaims this as their "only Irish date".
