Dublin rock group Morello have announced their break-up following an injury to their lead singer.
The group were scheduled to play ten more dates on their Japanese tour, but were forced to cut the trip short after lead singer Steve permanently damaged his vocal chords.
This setback meant the cancellation of the tour, with the band playing their last show on June 30 in Japan.
In a blog post on the band’s MySpace, Morello explain how Steve’s injury is just one in a series of setbacks that encouraged the lads to call it a day:
“We've been touring the world for 6 years now and getting knock-backs and sucker punches every time things seem like they are going to go smooth from record labels, booking agents, ex-band members...
“I guess after a while it gets to hard to get back up and go at it again, being a professional touring band is unbelievably hard work, and when fate seems to go against you it sucks the life and energy out of you!”
The post goes on to thank the group’s fans for their support:
“We have met so many wonderful people and our fans truly are the best in the world, we'll miss every one of you, thank you for giving us the best times of our lives, forever.”
