David Ayer's Suicide Squad doesn't land until August but already Harley Quinn is stealing the spotlight.
With it being one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, Suicide Squad is about to give way to a whole batch of Harley Quinn hysteria.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harley Quinn is getting her own film with Margot Robbie remaining as the villainess. It won't be a film solely dedicated to the wacky Quinn but instead revolve around a whole team full of DC female heroines and villains. With intentions for the project in such early stages, details remain scarce and vague. However, favourite names such as Batgirl, Poison Ivy and Birds of Prey are all emerging from the rumor fog. From what is being reporting, it's going to be a female tour-de-force with the killer female cast, Robbie producing the work and a female writer penning the script.
The idea is the brainchild of Robbie who after extensively researching her Harley Quinn character was fascinated by all the female fiends the DC Universe had to offer. Of course, this was a no-brainer to the Warner Bros studio considering the attention and hype that's circulating around Robbie's turn as Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad trailers.
Suicide Squad lands in cinemas August 5.
