Congratulations are in order for two of our home-grown comedians Sharon Horgan and Graham Norton as they are nominated for the 2016 BAFTA Awards.
Also in the running is Aidan Turner's Poldark as deemed worthy by the public for the Radio Times Award.
Multi-talented tour-de-force Sharon Horgan is a busy, busy lady. After it emerged that she was joining forces with Graham Linehan in writing comedy-sitcom Motherland, she's now gone and landed herself a BAFTA nomination for her performance as Sharon Morris in Channel 4's Catastrophe. The show, which Horgan also has a hand in writing, is a certified success for Channel 4 and with viewers as it currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Her talent has also been noted Stateside as she is the brains behind the HBO series Divorce starring Sarah Jessica-Parker.
And on a Friday night, what better way is there to spend it than with a glass of wine, laughing away at Graham Norton's charismatic charm and feeling as though you're a part of an extended couch laden with A -List celebrities? Those behind the BAFTA nominations wholeheartedly agree as this is the 9th time Cork native Norton has been nominated. He has won the award for Best Entertainment Performance an outstanding 7 times.
The 2016 BAFTA Television Awards will take place at London's prestigious Royal Hall Festival on Sunday, May 8.
