Hot Press brings you the premiere of the Electric Picnic-bound young Wicklow contenders’ new track…
Children Of The Son have unveiled a superbly shot video for ‘Colourblind’ – a brilliant new track that showcases the band’s rapidly maturing sound. The quartet were added to the bill for Electric Picnic this week.
The Graeme Wells-directed promo intersperses recent footage of the band with live shots of them in action over the past 12 months or so – as well as a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from our own expert snapper, Graham Keogh!
The song resonates with the kind of powerful, anthemic qualities that should see the already hotly-tipped outfit’s stock rise even further internationally.
Already, the band have hooked up with legendary US rock photographer Robert Knight, who is successfully opening doors for them in the US.
“I’ve been doing this project for Fender called the Brotherhood of the Guitar,” Knight told Hot Press, in an interview in the latest issue of the magazine. “I’m looking for young guitar players from around the world, aged between 14 and 20. I ran into a woman in an airport lounge in San Francisco who had a record company.

“She told me a friend of hers is managing these young guys in Ireland, Children of the Son. She said they were unbelievable. I hear this a lot: every band is ‘unbelievable’ – to someone. Anyhow, I looked them up on YouTube and came to Ireland and met the guys. There was something magical about them.”
The next three months promise to be a whirlwind for the band. They play the Salty Dog stage, on Sunday evening, at Electric Picnic. There is a major Irish TV appearance in the pipeline. And recording sessions have been line up with U2 and Van Morrison collaborator Alastair McMillan and then, in LA, with Warren Huart – the man behind The Fray.
You can read the full interview with Robert Knight and Children of the Son in the new issue of Hot Press – Electric Picnic cover – which hits the streets on Thursday morning.
