We Cut Corners' glorious version of Jona Lewie's 'Stop The Cavalry' gets an i Tunes release on December 5 in aid of January's First Fortnight mental health arts festival.
A tribute to the World War One fallen, the tune has lost none of its poignance since originally hitting the chart in 1980.
"It's our favourite Christmas song and since we first played it live in Dick Mack's pub in Dingle during Other Voices a couple of years back, we've wanted to record it for Christmas," say John and Conall. "When we were asked to be part of First Fortnight 2015, it seemed like the perfect time to go in and record the song.
The chaps also headline FF's January 10 gig in The Button Factory, with Booka Brass Band, I Have A tribe and State Lights supporting.
Taking place across Dublin from January 1-17, other musical treats include Therapy Session gigs in the Workman's Club (2 & 9) featuring The Lost Brothers, Ollie Cole, Paddy Hanna and I Have A Tribe; Hot Press fave Kevin Nolan who's on Hootenany duties in St. Patrick's Hospital (3) and the Irish premiere of the Elliott Smith Heaven Adores You documentary in the IFI (10).
We shall most definite be having some of that!
