We are loving the sound of 'Beatitudes'!
The trip north in August for Belsonic has become even more essential with Cashier No. 9 opening for Primal Scream when they perform Screamadelica in its entirety (19) and Villagers added to the bill for Elbow (24).
Tickets for the respective shows are £29 and £33.
Meanwhile, listeners to 98FM’s Totally Irish show were treated to a new Villagers tune last night, ‘Beatitudes’, which sounded the business.
“I’ve never actually recorded this before,” Conor J. said introducing it. “I played it live for the first time two or three days ago at a show in the Netherlands – but I didn’t play it very well! I’m going to try and play it a little bit better now because I can remember the lyrics!”
You can hear it, a gorgeous version of ‘Becoming A Jackal’ and his interview with John Barker at [link] www.98fm.com/2011/category-music/video-music/totally-irish/villagers[/link].
As for the eagerly awaited follow up to his debut, Ivor Novello Award-winning album Conor hinted that it’s likely to be more mid than early 2012 when it hits the racks.
