LISTEN: The Cranberries give an acoustic take on 'Linger'

Ahead of the release of the new album Something Else, this April, The Cranberries have come together for an acoustic rendition of one of their most famous songs.

The stripped-down take on 'Linger' features accompaniment from the Irish Chamber Orchestra.

First released in 1993, 'Linger' was a huge success and helped The Cranberries solidify their place on the international scene. In an interview with Hot Press from that time, Dolores O'Riordan noted that the song was about young love, telling Joe Jackson: “The song ‘Linger’ was written about (love) and it’s lovely because it captures that time of innocence for me, but I’d never want to go back to those days. If I hadn’t moved on, in terms of relationships, I’d probably still be travelling back to that first relationship, in my mind. But I believe I had to move on. Yet slowly and gradually, rather than just jumping into bed with someone else, when you’re not ready for that and you can’t even understand why you did it, or who this person really is. But I only had one relationship since then. I don’t have many relationships.”
