It may seem as though Star Wars is dominating the columns every second day but 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the revered original Star Trek.
Spock remains as one of the most iconic characters of the show with his finger splaying hand gesture giving him a vast pop-culture impact globally.
In celebration of this momentous year for Star Trek, the real-life son of Spock (played by Leonard Nimoy), Adam Nimoy will release a documentary in homage to his father titled For the Love of Spock.
The documentary is comprised of interviews and stories of Nimoy's colleagues, friends and fans who recount their impressions of Nimoy and the impact that he had on them and on the universe of Star Trek. Son Adam Nimoy crowdfunded the project to the tune of $600,000 and the documentary in due to premiere at the New York Tribeca Film Festival on April 15. The premiere will be attended by Adam Nimoy and narrator of the documentary and actor Zachary Quinto who took over as Spock in J.J Abram's Star Trek adaptation.
No doubt there will be plenty of dedicated fans donned out with pointed ears, dramatic eyebrows, blue attire and a stern grimace in tribute to Mr. Spock.
