It was recognised at the Irish Magazine Awards.
The great and good of the magazine industry gathered in the Clyde Court Hotel last night for the Irish Magazine Awards 2012 – and the Philip Lynott Exhibition was amongst the winners.
Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition, which was curated and run by Hot Press, picked up the gong for Innovation Of The Year, a prestigious recognition of the unique, interactive nature of the exhibition and its phenomenal popularity in 2012. The Philip Lynott Exhibition attracted audiences from all over Europe and further afield to Dublin for the duration of its run and was widely acclaimed both in Ireland and abroad.
"It's a great honour to receive an award like this for The Philip Lynott Exhibition," Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. "We knew that we were involved in putting something special together from the reaction on the opening night in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, which was so enormously positive. But, for us, what was really special about the whole experience was the fact that so many people travelled to Ireland to see the exhibition and went away with such a positive impression, not just of Philip and his music but of Irish music in general and indeed of Ireland."
Throughout its mammoth run in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, which finished up in September, and its well-received presence at the British Music Experience in London's O2, the exhibition provided fans of the late Thin Lizzy frontman, and music lovers in general, with the chance to immerse themselves in every aspect of the icon's life and loves. Bringing together cherished memorabilia that offered fresh insight into his career and personal life, and interviews with eminent musicians, it honoured Philo and broke new ground along the way.
Among the other big winners on the night were Irish Marketing Journal and the Zahra Media Group. The magazine picked up the award for Business to Business Magazine of the Year (with circulation less than 5,000), with main man John McGee also picking up the Editor of the Year. Zahra, publishers of Easy Food, Easy Health and Easy Parenting, among other titles, were named Publishing Company of the Year with CEO John Mullins and MD Gina Miltiadou picking up the award.
