A letter from Philip Lynott’s school principal has just been unearthed, accusing him of being "deliberately careless" with his school report on the way home from school.
A fascinating piece of rock history has just been discovered in the attic of Philomena Lynott, mother of the late, great rocker. A letter from his school principal accuses Philip of deliberately losing his term report after it was found lying on the street. On inspection, one can perhaps understand why the young Lynott may not have wanted to bring home the report – it featured a ‘very disappointing’ E for Punctuality and a surprising C in Music!
The letter provides a remarkable insight into the formative years of the future rocker – and hints at his mischievousness personality that went on to win the hearts of music fans around the world.
The document – handwritten on headed paper from Princess Road Junior School in Manchester – is dated 26th July 1957 and was accompanied by the 'lost' school report. Both items will be featured in a new book, Philip Lynott: Still In Love With You – The Life and Music of Ireland’s Legendary Rock Icon. One of the most anticpated music tomes in years, the book is only available to those who make a 'pledge' in advance at [link]www.pledgemusic.com/philiplynott[/link]
Hot Press magazine has been sifting through incredible archive material along with Philomena Lynott – most of which has been unseen for decades. Each week remarkable new items from Philip’s life are being found, the best of which will feature in the book.
