The record will get live outings in November.
Hot Press’ Peter Murphy is poised to release The Sounds Of John The Revelator, a musical accompaniment to his critically acclaimed John The Revelator novel.
It’s being released on November 9 through Jerry Fish’s Mudbug Club label and finds Mr. Murphy darkly intoning over a Bad Seeds-esque backdrop.
Uneasy listening, but nevertheless rather wonderful!
“The Sounds of John the Revelator is not an audiobook,” Peter notes. “We wanted the listener to have the same visceral response from our stuff as they would from a record by the Stooges or King Tubby or Blind Willie Johnson.”
The album gets a live outing when The Revelator Orchestra journeys to Wexford Arts Centre as part of the Caca Mills Masqued Samhain Ball (November 2) and Limerick Writers’ Centre (17).

There’s already a follow up, The Brotherhood Of The Flood, in the pipeline, which is inspired by Peter’s second Faber tome, Shall We Gather At The River, which hits shelves in January.
