Mayo composer Patrick Cassidy is causing a major cross-channel stir courtesy of the album he's recorded with former Dead Can Dance woman Lisa Gerrard.
Explaining how the 4AD collaboration came about, Gerard says: "I had a cup of tea with Patrick while I was working on the music for Gladiator and we just clicked. I lived in Ireland for a while and he had a gentleness that I was familiar with. He's also an extraordinary composer and harpist. We discovered a shared love of music and stories and poetry and of music as a way of telling a story."
Recorded in Australia's Snowy Mountains where Gerard is now domiciled, the 10-track collection features 'The Song Of Amergin', 'Marantha', 'Amergin's Inovocation', 'Elegy', 'Abwoon', 'Immortal Memory', 'Paradise Lost', 'I Asked For Love', 'Psallit In Aure Dei' and the W.B. Yeats-inspired 'Sailing To Byzantium'.
