Controversial Scottish author - and former Dublin resident - Irvine Welsh has exclusively revealed the title of his forthcoming novel to Hot Press.
"It's going to be called The Sex Lives Of Siamese Twins," he told Olaf Tyaransen, in an interview to be published in our next issue. "I've literally just finally settled on the title so you're the very first to know."
The novel will be Welsh's ninth since the publication of his controversial debut Trainspotting in 1993. Set in Miami, it explores the relationship between two women living in the city, a personal trainer and an artist, who are obsessed with each other. The book is due out in April 2014.
While they wait, Welsh fans can look forward to the release of director Jon S. Baird's version of his third novel, Filth, published in 1998. Starring James McAvoy as the drug-addicted and utterly corrupt Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson, alongside Jim Broadbent, Jamie Bell and Omogen Poots, the film is due for release later this year.
There's also much industry talk of Danny Boyle directing the Trainspotting sequel Porno. "It's looking likely, yeah," Welsh told Olaf. "I've been talking about meeting Andrew McDonald, and it looks like everyone else, John [Hodge], Danny [Boyle] and the rest of the crew want to do it. So it's just a matter of finalising all the details."
You can read the full interview in the next issue of Hot Press, which hits the streets on June 20th.
