This week marks the first time streaming has been taken into account on the chart.
Today's countdown enters a new frontier in the measuring of a single's popularity. IRMA have started to include streams in its data for measuring a singles popularity. This could potentially radically alter the countdown and eventually surpass the traditional methods, but one week in things haven't changed much.
Ella Henderson's 'Ghost' returns to the top spot after a one week absence. Rising from second, Henderson's hit looks likely to make residence near the top of the charts for a good while. Not a bad look for The X-Factor alumni, whose debut album Chapter 1 is due in September.
If Henderson is looking for a blueprint for success on the Irish charts, she should seek none other than John Legend, whose single 'All Of Me' takes second place after an impressive 20 weeks on the countdown. While the single definitely was slow to catch on ('All Of Me' and the album it was on were both released in 2013), the long term success that arose from it might even be the high point of Legend's storied career.
Following Legend are Coldplay, whose single 'A Sky Full Of Stars' has seen an impressive rise up the countdown, moving into the top three after eight weeks on the countdown. After jumping from two spots from fifth this week, and three spots from eighth the week before, it seems to be just a matter of time before the band claims their first number one Irish single.
The Fourth Spot is taken by last week's number one, Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea's 'Problem', who may face the risk of fading after a strong start. Following Grand and Azalea are duo Nico & Vinz, whose single 'Am I Wrong' appears to have settled into the top five.
Taking up the second half of the top ten are some staples of the countdown, plus a debut at the tenth spot. mr. Probz' 'Waves' comes in a t six, moving up one spot form seven, taking the place of Ed Sheeran's 'Sing' which moves down from six to seven. The same effect takes place on the eight and ninth spots with Klingande's 'Jubel' rising to eight and Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me' falling to nine. The final spot of the top ten is taken by latest single from The Vampa, 'Somebody To You', making its debut.
