Bostonian folk-punks make the album of their lives
In an era of flash-in-the-pan, pre-packaged, plastic performers who debut with a handful of hits and then quietly shuffle off down the path marked Mediocre Street, it does the heart good to see Boston’s celtic punks the Dropkick Murphys get better with age. And when I say better I mean much better. With each record selling more than the last, the band look set to do it all again with their latest (and arguably greatest) release Going Out In Style. Opening track ‘Hang ‘Em High’ barrells along impressively. The title track is a rousing anthemic rocker. And so it goes: a riotous mix of folk, punk, rock and trad, the Dropkicks’ have become the little band that could. Their near flawless seventh record is an absolute blast to listen to.
