Chris Cornell is set to play The Olympia Theatre, Dublin. The former front man with Seattle trailblazers Soundgarden hit Ireland for a one-off show in the capital on Sunday 14th June, 2009.
Chris Cornell has been involved in a number of major rock projects over more than two decades in the limelight. In addition to Soundgarden, who were the first of the bands from the Seattle scene to sign to a major label and released five albums, he was involved the Temple of the Dog side project before joining with three other musical pioneers from rap-rock's Rage Against The Machine to create Audioslave - a multi-platinum supergroup which produced three top-selling albums, toured extensively and became the first American band to bring rock to Fidel Castro's Cuba.
Having contributed solo songs to movie soundtracks from Great Expectations to Mission Impossible II, Cornell became the first American male singer to write the theme song for the James Bond franchise in its most successful film to date, Casino Royale. His bold and bluesy reinvention of Michael Jackson dance classic 'Billie Jean' courted controversy and attracted imitators.
Cornell chose hip-hop/R&B super-producer Timbaland to helm his solo new album, Scream (released in March this year). “Together Tim and I have created a new sound," he says. "Our vibe and our creative energy helped to make a masterpiece. We brought out the best in one another by breaking all the rules and boundaries in music.”
