The 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival is almost upon us and today, the Festival's jury panel was announced.
One of the most luxurious film festivals set on the sunny south side of France, Cannes Film Festival is a noted affair in the film industry.
Those filling out the prestigious panel are Australian director George Miller (Mad Maxx), actress Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Italian director Valeria Golino (Rain Man), Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), Hungarian director Laszlo Nemes (Son of Saul), French actress Vanessa Paradis (Rio, I Love You), Iranian producer Katayoon Shahabi and Canadian actor Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games). Phew, that's quite the accomplished panel.
Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 11 with a screening of Woody Allen's Cafe Society. Battling it out for the prime Palme d'Or award this year are films from Pedro Almodóvar, Olivier Assayas, the Dardenne brothers, Jim Jarmusch, Cristian Mungiu, Jeff Nichols and Sean Penn. Steven Spielberg's BFG and Jodie Foster's Money Monster will both make their big premiere at the festival and there will be an abundance of stars lining the red carpet. The film affair will run until May 22.
