Drake is closing in on the Queen of Pop – with lots of new entries in the Top 30 to spice up the mix
Beyoncé remains the Queen of Pop – at least as far as Irish fans are concerned.
The singles success of Drake notwithstanding, Beyoncé is at No.1 in the album charts in Ireland this week with Lemonade. Having kept Paul Simon’s widely acclaimed Stranger To Stranger at bay last week – it drops to No.9 this week – the danger to her dominance comes from a different source now.
Buoyed by the success of his ‘One Dance’ single, Drake may just be creeping closer to knocking Queen B off her throne, as his fascinating Views album continues its steady climb to No.2. In third place is Everything This Way from Walking On Cars followed by Adele with 25 and Justin Bieber with Purpose at No.5.

Two new entries make it in to the top 10. At No.6 is Tom Odell's Wrong Crowd, closely followed by Paul McCartney's new self titled compilation record. Christy Moore’s Lily is at No.8. Even after a mightily impressive 104 weeks on the chart – that’s all of two years, folks – Ed Sheeran's X retains its place in the top 10, at at No.10.
Other new entries in this week’s Top 30 include Kaleo’s A/B (No.17), Band of Horses’ Why Are You OK? (No.23) and Nick Jonas Last Year Was Complicated (No.26).
