Hives meet Futureheads on promising debut
Wearing their Stranglers influences on their Ben Sherman sleeves, Essex-based bright young things Baddies’ debut is a high energy, rock ‘n’ roll riot. Coming off a bit like The Hives and Futureheads (only, you know, better) the band’s jerky, jolting riffs and spazz-core melodies are refreshing. The insane whooping on ‘Battleships’ is catchy as anything we’ve heard all year, ‘Tiffany…I’m Sorry’ is a future hit and pretty much all of the 12 tracks have success stamped all over them.
