Electrical storm

Hannah Hamilton, 13 Sep 2002

I’ll be the first to admit that U2’s newer material didn’t quite catch me in the way that previous offerings have, however, a genuine return to form is heralded with the release of ‘Electrical Storm’. Taken from the forthcoming Best Of 1990-2000, this record sees U2 returning to a sound that is, although admittedly more mature, also reminiscent of bygone classics – uplifting guitars, vocals aching with passion and melodies worth their weight in gold. It doesn’t quite give you the shivers, but it’s still one hell of a track. Not released ’til October, but if you want to hear it, turn on the radio.
