@hotpress: You had problems with addiction, have you been affected by the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman?
@johnmurry: To be honest, it did have a real aff ect on me, I never would have expected that from him, there was always a darkness in him but I didn’t know it.
@hotpress: You once talked about your favourite records producing 'images'? Do your songs do that when you play them?
@johnmurry: Yeah, Some of the songs are very literal. Now more than ever, to perform them honestly I have to revisit those images and feelings.
@hotpress: Your last album battled with demons from the past; what’s your writing process like now?

@johnmurry: It’s the same for me, There’s never been a period where I felt there's nothing to write about. I’m approaching things the same way, out of a need to create.
@hotpress: Is recording/performance cathartic for you?
@johnmurry: It's more cathartic performing now than when I was making it. It took so long to make because I was in the throws of heroin addiction. It’s disturbing to re-visit it.
@hotpress: Are you excited to be coming back to Ireland?
@johnmurry: I love Ireland, the more time I spend there the more I wanna move. It’s amazing how many people are talented and well-known in Ireland.
@hotpress: What’s on the horizon?
@johnmurry: The new EP is done, it’s coming out initially on vinyl for Record Store Day. I’m happy with it. I’m almost disturbed how easily it came to exist.
