- Gemma was born in 1979 in Ballyporeen, Co Tipperary.
- Aged 5, she bought her first record, 'What's Another Year' by Johnny Logan.
- In 2001, she released her first recording, the RP 4.35AM to rave reviews and a record deal with the French Source record label.
- Her growing reputation earned her support slots with artists of the calibre of David Gray.
- Her debut album Night On My Side in 2002 sees her voted Female Artist Of The Year in the Hot Press Awards.
- Gemma's international career gets a major boost when her debut album is nominated for a prestigious Mercury Award.
- In 2003 she wins many new fans and accolades with a breakthrough tour of the USA.
- In 2004, she overcomes a bout of writer's block by taking time out in Kerry, before forming her own band in Los Angeles.
- That same year, her debut album is voted one of the top 100 Irish albums of all time in a special Hot Press poll.
- Her 2005 album The Roads Don't Love You sees Gemma Hayes fully back on track, garnering further critical and public acceptance at home and abroad.
