The producer also cracked a few jokes about Trump's gaffe-prone consigliere Kellyanne Conway.
The P&E Award, which is given to recognise individuals' ""accomplishments and ongoing support for the art and craft of recorded music" was won last night by musician and producer Jack White.
In his acceptance speech, White spoke about his performance and production philosophies and praised to work of The Stooges' producer Don Galluci, Michael Jackson.
White credited Bing Crosby for his personal investment in the development of analog tape machine technology in the 1940s and contrasted Crosby's actions to those of Donald Trump, saying: ""That was about building bridges and paradigms for future generations. I think we should build bridges instead of walls, especially right now."

White also had time for further digs at the Trump administration. “I had a speech prepared by Kellyanne Conway and Bob Lefsetz,” he said at the outset of his address, “but I dropped it in the bar on the way here, so I’m just going to wing it, if that’s OK.”
