When it came to a producer for their debut EP, the Cork outfit wanted someone who would give them a stylish rock swagger... They eventually found their man in London-based Andy Whitmore, whose previous credits include Elton John.
"We were looking for a real indie-pop sound," says frontman Chris Carnsdale. "We wanted someone who could capture that. I listened to his stuff and it sounded fantastic the way it was produced and mixed; we loved the way he incorporated synths."
Initially starting off as a covers band, The Elation soon began challenging themselves to write their own material, with debut EP 'Clickbait' representing the fruits of their labours.
"I like to think there's a positive message behind all the stuff that we do," says Chris. "Some of the themes may be a little bit downbeat, but there's always some positivity in there too."
With a whole host of festival appearances scheduled for the summer, including Indiependence and Arcadian Fields, The Elation are looking to release as much music as possible over the next few months. With melodic flair and clever lyrics, it'll be intriguing to see where they go from here.

Certainly, they have the potential to make a name for themselves. The profile of guitar music may be lower than it has been for some time, but as has been repeatedly proven throughout rock history, audiences always respond to artists with good songs and charisma.
"I'd love to get the second EP out at the end of the year," says Chris, "and then get onto an album. We're progressing and experimenting more all the time, so we're really excited about what we're doing."
'Clickbait' is out now with The Elation embarking shortly on an Irish tour!
