Longtime U2 producer Steve Lillywhite's mix of The Joshua Tree track 'Red Hill Mining Town' was premiered by Irish DJ Dave Fanning and will get a limited-edition 12" vinyl release this month, along with selected stills from U2 photographer Anton Corbijn.
The new 'Red Hill Mining Town' mix has premiered on Dave Fanning's show last Sunday. You can listen to U2's section from 1:19:40.
'Red Hill Mining Town' was inspired by Bono’s reading of the book Red Hill: A Mining Community by Tony Parker. It's context is the British government's closure of several coalmines that had become unprofitable, leaving thousands jobless. The song is the sixth single in The Joshua Tree, which celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year.
The single will be available April 22 for Record Store Day 2017 and will also be included on the 30th anniversary release of The Joshua Tree, availabe from June 2.
