A collective of Kildare DJs, producers and artists has created a new Irish label – and released a debut compilation EP that is well worth investigating.
What a time to be from Kildare! Local pop-rock hopefuls Picture This, from Athy, are well on their way to setting the world on fire, with a deal with Island Records in the bag and an Irish No.1 already to their credit in the form of their Picture This EP (which featured their smash hit track ‘Take My Hand’).
Now, a collective of producers, musicians and DJs from the town of Newbridge – including Mix & Fairbanks, Conor C, Adultrock (pictured above by Brid O'Donovan), Cinema, and Phare – have set up their own record label, called 045 Recordings. The name is taken from the Kildare telephone area code.
Artists from 045 are starting to make waves on the Irish electronic, disco, and house music scene, with the release of the smartly titled 045 One. The compilation features tracks from members of the founding collective, including Mix & Fairbanks, Conor C, Adultrock, Cinema and Phare.
Fans can catch them collectively and individually gracing stages throughout the upcoming festival season, with their chilled, upbeat tunes, at the likes of Bare in the Woods and Castlepalooza. Meanwhile, you can get yourself into the groove by sampling 'Little & Often' by Conor C and ‘Girls' by Mix & Fairbanks. Listen here.
