We're gearing up for the launch of Music Cork, a new May three-dayer at which industry heavyweights will come face to face with Ireland's hottest emerging acts.
Whether air guitaring to Rory Gallagher in City Hall; idiot dancing at the legendary Sir Henry’s Sweat nights; or thanking our lucky stars that we’ve managed to squeeze in to Lisa Hanigan’s super-intimate Coughlan’s gig – Jayz, you had to be there! - Hot Press has always had a blast when we’ve hit the town in the People’s Republic.
That list will likely be added to from May 10-12, as the city plays host to the inaugural Music Cork industry conference, social gathering and showcase event.
With a list of speakers that includes the President of Island Records, Darcus Beese; agents Geoff Meall (UTA), Steve Zapp (ITB) and Josh Javor (X-Ray) who respectively represent the likes of Muse, Biffy Clyro and Coldplay; publishing experts Martin Toher (B-Unique) and Tommas Arby (Locomotion); Kodaline and Stephanie Rainey manager, Ricardo Zambak, and Rob Stevenson, Executive VP of Republic Records who’s worked with the likes of The Killers, Katy Perry, Jessie J, The Weeknd and James Bay, it’s a seriously heavyweight affair, which promises to entertain and illuminate in equal measure.
As well as this, showcase gigs throughout the weekend will introduce the uninitiated to some of Ireland's most talented musical prospects, with the likes of Jafaris, Ailbhe Reddy and Barq all on the menu!
