BOB DYLAN BI-PASSES the capital on July 15th when he plays at Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park GAA Stadium.
His first outdoor show here since the 1993 Waterford Fleadh, he’ll be drawing on a back catalogue that now spans five decades, and includes such classics as ‘Just Like A Woman’, ‘Tangled Up In Blue’, ‘Maggie’s Farm’ and ‘Lay Lady Lay’. Support is provided by Juliet Turner, who’s firing on all cylinders again following a bout of ill health.
Tickets priced £35 and £40 can be booked online at www.aikenpromotions.com
Meanwhile, one of his former backing singers, Carol Dennis, has admitted that she secretly married the Big Zim in 1986, and had a daughter by him who’s now 15-years-old.

Responding to claims made in Howard Sounes’ new biography, Down The Highway: The Life Of Bob Dylan, Dennis explains that: “Bob and I made a choice to keep our marriage a private matter for a simple reason – to give our daughter a normal childhood. To portray Bob as ‘hiding his daughter’ is just malicious and ridiculous. That is something he would never do. Bob has been a wonderful, active father to Desiree.”
Finally, May 24th finds HQ staging a special ‘Salute Him When His Birthday Comes’ gig in honour of Dylan’s 60th. Promoter Larry Roddy is expecting a broad assortment of artists to perform, with all proceeds going to charity. If you want in on the act, give him a call at (045) 864017.
