The concert included performances from Future and Jeremih, as well as a message of support from Barack Obama.
This weekend saw Chicago's back-to-school festivities kick off with the city's annual Bud Billiken Bash. At the event, Chicago native Chance the Rapper's non-profit SocialWorks, in aid of Chicago's public schools, was there to hand out as many as 30,000 backpacks full of school supplies- and he had a surprise for the teachers as well.
"I’m handing out free tickets all day long," Chance the Rapper said. "I wanted to make sure I can identify all those teachers that support our youth and build our children up, all those fathers that are out here with their families, the cornerstones of their houses, bringing their families out — I wanted to make sure I can identify y'all so my people can get you some free tickets."
To make that a little easier, the rap star went on camera with reporters to announce where exactly he'd be to hand out those tickets:
