ZoiD hit the road this winter
Jazz combo ZoiD Ensemble have announced Irish winter tour dates.
Led by Daniel Jacobson, the ZoiD Ensemble are among the most intriguing of the new breed of Irish jazz combos. Jacobson released the widely praised album, Zoid Versus the Jazz Musicians of Ireland, in September 2007, with Ronan Guilfoyle, Michael Buckley, Tommy Halferty, Sean Carpio and Greg Felton among the supporting cast.
The Jacobson sound aims to fuse electronic and acoustic instruments "in new and intrepid ways, pitching contemporary ensemble writing against free improv and jazz."
The musicians set to feature in the ZoiD crew include saxaphonists Nick Roth and Cathal Roche, trombonist Colm O'Hara, pianist Justin Carroll, bassist Cormac O'Brien and drummer Matthew Jacobson.
The full list of tour confirmed dates is as follows: Wexford Arts Centre, November 30; Factory Performance Space, Sligo, December 1; Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise (7); Dolan's Upstairs, Limerick (8); Mermaid Arts Centre, Wicklow (13); and Project Arts Centre, Dublin (19).
