In the run up to the July release of Pugwash’s new single the band will play two acoustic sets in Whelan’s.
In preparation for Oxegen, Pugwash will play two special shows in Upstairs at Whelan’s on June 22 and 29. The shows will be acoustic sets and the band promise some very special surprise guest performances. With the likes of Andy Partridge & Dave Gregory of XTC, Neil Hannon, Michael Penn, Jason Falkner, The Section Quartet and Nelson Bragg of The Brian Wilson Band all appearing on the latest record, Pugwash have some pretty cool friends as potential guests. The band will then move downstairs in the venue for another gig on July 12, one for those who couldn’t get down to Punchestown.
In what looks to be a busy summer for Pugwash, the guys will also be releasing the second single from their critically acclaimed album, Eleven Modern Antiquities. ‘At the Sea’ will be released in Ireland on July 31 but is already available for download on iTunes. The track was co-written by Pugstar Thomas Walsh and XTC’s Andy Partridge. The pair describe the song as a “summery bouncing tune along with quirky kazoo and whistles and which will accompanying along with an incredible guitar solo from Partridge.”
