Oxfam want your CDs!
Oxfam is calling on music fans to donate any unwanted CDs or vinyl in a new 'ClearUrMusic' campaign.
Maybe you were given something not quite to your tastes at Christmas, or maybe you're the proud owner of a new iPod and your entire collection has just been rendered obsolete. Either way, don't just leave them sitting there gathering dust - consider donating them to your local Oxfam branch.
Oxfam say that the money raised from the sale of just one CD in one of their Irish shops can buy 12 syringes to keep valuable livestock healthy in Kenya, while a donation and sale of three vinyl albums could secure access to a doctor for 30 children affected by HIV and AIDS.
Speaking about the new campaign, Oxfam Ireland's Peter Tomlinson said: “Increasingly people are choosing to buy their music online – meaning their CDs and albums are left gathering dust. ClearUrMusic is all about encouraging people to blow the cobwebs from those albums and donate them to one of our shops - where they can be sold to raise vital funds for our work overseas.”
