Aaron and Bryce Dessner are guesting on the final episode of the show, which is being axed by Today FM despite an increase in its audience.
Hot Press is saddened that Nadine O’Regan’s excellent Songs In The Key Of Life is being axed by Today FM despite registering its highest ever audience figures in the last JNLRs.
Having initially aired on sister station TXFM, the show transferred to the national broadcaster in 2016 and has featured everyone from Blindboy, Cathy Davey and Roddy Doyle to Louise O’Neill, Tim Wheeler and Seal.
There's been a lot of Twitter support for O'Regan with several listeners pointing out that Today FM are losing one of their handful of female anchors.
“From my first show in April 2014 with Andy Cairns of Therapy? to my most recent show with Laura Whitmore, I’ve loved doing the programme,” Nadine, a former Hot Press contributor, reflects. “Every single, and sometimes crazy, minute of it.”
Songs In The Key Of Life bows out in style on Sunday July 1 with Aaron and Bryce Dessner from The National chatting about their favourite tunes. It includes new music from their pal, Bon Iver, that's never been played on radio before.
Also pleasing some and disappointing others is news that Today FM's Sunday Business Show is being replaced by a new Mario Rosenstock vehicle, the Sunday Roast.
On the strength of #SongsInTheKeyOfLife last Sunday week, I bought @GazCoombes CD (a CD... I know ?) and I'm loving it. #NewMusic.
Really sorry to hear that another female voice on radio - Nadine O'Regan - is losing her spot on @TodayFM. https://t.co/EKrtkPWqIU

but but but isn't it a case that they just got shut of Nadine O'Regan to get Mario to do the same show? Way to go with the encouraging new talent...and don't mention the gender bias...
(you could be being sarky obvs here. We need the Sarcastica font, stat)
