Garden Party plans return in 2008
Although the weekend is over, organisers of the Garden Party say they won’t let the sun go down on the festival fun as they plan to be back next year.
The weekend sun wasn’t wasted on revellers at the Garden Party in Ballinlough Castle, Co. Westmeath. The success of the event, attended by 7,000 people on Saturday, means that it's sure to become a permanent fixture.
“Everyone is delighted with how smoothly the whole day went,” says organiser John Reynolds from POD Concerts.
Gorgeous sunshine and temperatures of 26 degrees helped to make the festival a great event for the likes of headliners the Pet Shop Boys, as well as Hot Chip (pictured) and Vitalic.
If all goes to plan, organisers say, the Garden Party will continue as an annual event.
“The feedback from both punters and gardai has been extremely positive and of course we were blessed with the weather,” says John. “This is the second year and like everything it takes two or three years for a festival to find its feet but if all goes well, it'll be an annual event from now on.”
