Jon Astley, the UK producer whose credits include Debbie Harry, Eric Clapton and The Who, has put together a monster 31-track compilation for the Tuesday’s Child charity.
The organisation aims to bring a better quality of life to kids in countries as diverse as Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel, St. Lucia and Zimbabwe.
Among those donating songs are Cara Dillon, Duke Special, Julie Feeney, Westlife, Brian Kennedy, Kilá and Snow Patrol (pictured) who came on board after Gary Lightbody became an uncle for the first time.
“Upon my first hold of my niece Honey, I realised that without my sister and my brother-in-law she’d be helpless,” Gary says. “So many children are born without the protection and love that my little niece has, and that’s why charities like Tuesday’s Child are so important.”
Along with the music, you also get to gawp at Lightbody and the album’s other featured acts when they were still in short trousers.
Tuesday’s Child is available through retail outlets and online at www.tuesdayschild.ie
