Song Of The Fortnight Details
• Up to 23 hours recording time to be taken as 2 x 11 hour overnight sessions at the Sound Training Centre, Sun2 studio, Dublin, at a mutually agreed time and date.
• One track is selected for this prize each fortnight and announced in Hot Press magazine. A number of runner-up prizes may also be selected each fortnight during this process.
• If the selected winner can not claim the prize, one of the runner-ups or another artist may be selected in their place, at the sole discretion of Hot Press and the Sound Training Centre.
• All tracks recorded through this promotion may be made available for use on the hotpress.com and on the Sun2 websites in both downloadable MP3 and secure streaming media formats.
• Sound Training Centre and Hot Press will pay the artist(s) a nominal fee, to be mutually agreed, after which all three parties [Sound Training Centre, Hot Press and the Artist(s)] will equally own the recorded track(s). Any of these parties can use / promote these tracks, as they like, for non-commercial purposes only.
• Hot Press will retain all original demo recordings.
• If more than the two 11 hour sessions need to be used to complete / add to a track, the artist(s) is liable to pay for all additional recordings and will be offered a 10% discount off usual studio price.
• All winners are entitled to 10% off further sessions booked at sun2 studio for the following 12 months.
• Runner-up prize(s) to be awarded each fortnight are eligible for 2/3 discount off studio time, at sun2 studio, Dublin. (overnight sessions only).
Procedure
1. Hot Press / sound Training Centre select a fortnightly winner and other potential runner-up tracks
2. Sound Training Centre engineer contacts winner(s) to arrange detailed pre-production meeting which will include:
a) Selecting the track(s) to be recorded
b) A brief introduction to music technology.
c) Detail a recording plan and session break down.
d) Book studio time.
3 Recording: 2 x 11 hour overnights (10:00pm - 9:30am) on agreed date.
4 Mastering. Can be done with or without artist being present. A copy of the track will be mastered onto CD for; a) The artist(s),
b) HotPress,
c) STC,
d) The engineer
5 A (brief) review of the whole process will be written by the engineer to be used as Hot Press see fit.
Timing
• The winning artist will be contacted as soon as demo is selected.
• Pre-production and mastering will not have specified time limits. It will be at the engineers discretion to allot adequate and suitable times
• The first 11 hour session will be booked for the first week after the demo is selected, or sooner if suitable / possible.
• No guarantees for weekend overnight sessions. Weekday overnights will be first choice. In rare occasions day sessions may be used at the total discretion of Sun2.
• Hot Press and Sound Training Centre will allow for this procedure to be as flexible as possible to allow for unforeseen problems and to accommodate artists who work, go to school/college and/or need to make travel arrangements etc.
